Recruited by NFL teams, cutting down nets and rocking personalized shoes ... Just another night for Loyola superfan Sister Jean
Everyone’s favorite nun is heading to the Final Four.
The Loyola basketball team chaplain, 98-year-old Jean Dolores Schmidt — aka “Sister Jean” — will be heading to San Antonio after the Ramblers’ Elite Eight win over Kansas State. Along the way, she’s gained millions of fans with her fearless leadership, her amazing reactions to the Ramblers’ NCAA tournament wins and her brutally honest bracket — she had Loyola losing in the Sweet 16. She even has her own bobblehead.
On Saturday night, the legend only continued to grow. With two wins in three days in Atlanta, the city’s football team is hoping she can stick around for a little while longer.
Hey @RamblersMBB, how about you let Sister Jean stay in Atlanta for football season. Cool?

Of course, the Falcons were a little late: The NFC South rival Panthers extended an offer after the Sweet 16 win over Nevada and even made her a personalized jersey.

On Saturday night, she rocked her own personalized “Sister Jean” Nike sneakers…

… and once the Ramblers had taken care of business against the Wildcats and cut down the nets, they made sure their chaplain got a strand of the net as well.

So what’s next for Sister Jean? Well she’s got a trip to San Antonio lined up in a few days: Loyola will take on the winner of Michigan and Florida State. It’s the program’s first Final Four since 1963, when it won the national championship. And she also might have a date with Charles Barkley if she wants it. The former NBA star-turned-studio analyst picked against the Ramblers earlier in the night.
If Loyola Chicago makes the Final Four, Charles Barkley said he'll go on a date with Sister Jean.

It’s been an incredible run for the Ramblers and their team chaplain, and it’s not done yet.
