Rebel Wilson recently added an exciting new credit to her CV: Vogue cover girl. But, the Internet, being the black hole of negativity that it is, quickly found a way to rain on her parade.
The Pitch Perfect star debuted her Vogue Australia cover on Twitter on Tuesday with a heartwarming message: “I never would’ve thought this element would be added to my life: Vogue Covergirl. This was such an amazing experience, thank you Vogue Australia and to all the designers and stylists who worked on this shoot!”

Fans quickly took to the comments to call the magazine out for slimming the actress down in the glamorous images.
They altered the photo. Look at her face and hands. Slimmed down. Why can’t they just show her in her natural beauty.????— Laura Barzallo (@LauraBarzallo) May 22, 2018
This upsets me so much. She was a role model before but seeing that she has accepted photo shopping makes me want to steer clear from showing her as an influence. I am so disappointed right now.— Heather Meinke (@MysteriaKiito) May 22, 2018
why is it that everytime a "plus size" woman makes it to the cover of a fashion magazine, they wrap them in the heaviest coats imaginable ?— meydey (@meydey0) May 22, 2018
And OK, it’s not super outlandish for a fashion magazine to come under fire for their photo editing—we’ve seen it before, a LOT—but in this case, it’s uncalled for. Rebel herself responded to critical fans, explaining that there was no foul photo play—check the receipts:
Oh and just so you can see the raw v’s the magazine shot, I took a monitor photo myself on the day of the shoot! So please don’t carry on that these shots are heavily photoshopped because they’re not! pic.twitter.com/7DcgO4hZ3a— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) May 22, 2018
Nope, not slimmed down! I just ate healthy and exercised for the month before the shoot x but then immediately after ate brownies!— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) May 22, 2018
Considering that this time last year Wilson brought Bauer Media to court over charges of public defamation (and won, mind you), we’d say this is 100% the wrong time to be starting rumors about Rebel.
Haters, back off!
