Actress Rebel Wilson has opened up about a terrifying-sounding ordeal she experienced while in rural Africa – the Pitch Perfect and Cats star was held at gunpoint and kidnapped while travelling with a group of friends. She recalled the story while speaking to famed 'hard man' Ant Middleton on his new programme, Straight Talking, which airs on Sky One tomorrow.

"There was one time in Africa where I got kidnapped. It was in rural Mozambique," she began. "We were on this cattle truck and these men came on another truck with a lot of guns. [They pulled up beside us] with the big guns and they were like, 'Yeah, you’ve got to get off your truck'." So far, so panic-inducing.

However, Rebel said that thankfully she was able to keep calm during the experience and acted as a sort of "leader" for the rest of her group – even when they were taken to an isolated house in the middle of nowhere. "I felt like I was very good in the crisis, I was like a team leader," she added. "They sat us down, and I said, 'Everybody link arms', because I was petrified in the night that they might want to take one of the girls or something."

The Hollywood icon then said that although she can't be sure, she believes the kidnappers wanted to use her and her friend's truck to smuggle drugs across the border. "Luckily we weren’t harmed and then the next day they came and said, 'Your truck is ready now. You can go! Go, go!' We didn’t ask any questions."

She continued on to say, "We just got back on that truck and got out of there and crossed the South African border a few hours later... I think maybe those guys, maybe, used us to smuggle illegal things in the bottom of the truck."

Upon hearing the story, Ant couldn't help but show his shock by saying, "I was expecting you to say, 'Yeah I came face to face with a snake or a spider', and then you tell me you got kidnapped at gunpoint!"

Rebel also took to social media to share a snap of her and Ant, writing that they spent three days in the Mexican wilderness together: "This is what I look like 3 days into the Mexican wilderness with @antmiddleton... Catch STRAIGHT TALKING on @skytv Thursday 14th at 9pm UK time."

Commenting on her Instagram post, Ant wrote, "What a warrior and joy you are! Now long now 😘 x" – so clearly the pair were able to survive their outdoor experience and remain friends!

Thank God Rebel and all her friends made it out of that scary situation unharmed.
