Read Toby Keith's Emotional Instagram Message About His Cancer Diagnosis

Country music icon Toby Keith announced this week that he has spent the past 6 months undergoing treatment for stomach cancer. The 60-year-old revealed the news with his fans on Instagram with a heartfelt message.

Toby wrote, "Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait. -T"

Fans flooded the singer's Instagram feed with prayers and comments of support.

According to his official website, Toby is scheduled to perform at several dates this June and July. There has been no announcement if those dates have been postponed or canceled.

Since beginning his career in 1998, Toby has sold more than 40 million albums and has charted 20 number one hits. His 19th studio album, Peso in my Pocket, was released in October 2021. The "Beer for My Horses" singer also heads up the Toby Keith Foundation, which supports the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients. Toby appeared at the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic in support of his foundation in May.
