Welcome back to Pandora, people—or London, where the world premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water screened for select members of the press on Tuesday night. Can the blue aliens (who fronted the highest-grossing movie in cinematic history) return 13 years later to conquer the globe once again?

It seems like the answer is yes. The first reactions to the film hit social media last night—and it appears that audiences would be foolish to doubt James Cameron's ability to bring us another hit. Even if you can't remember any of the character's names from the original film, the magic from the first film seems to be alive and well in its sequel. Plus, the new technologies Cameron created to film underwater in 3-D sound like a major success, too.

Before the film even screened for critics, Guillermo del Toro called the long-awaited sequel "a staggering achievement" on Twitter, adding that Cameron is "a master at the peak of his power.” Lucky for audiences and del Toro, Cameron has three more Avatar sequels in pre-production as well. Led once again by Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and newcomer Kate Winslett, Avatar: The Way of Water picks up over a decade after the original film, exploring the Na'vi's new families—and, of course, the oceanic elements of the planet.

Before the sequel opens in theaters on December 18, 2022, catch a spoiler-free glimpse of what audiences and critics have to say about the film's magical premiere.
