The comedian opened up about his frightening previous health issues.

Ray Romano shared details of a health scare during an appearance on podcast WTF with Marc Maron.

In the episode, which premiered on April 17, the Everybody Loves Raymond star revealed that he had a stent put in after having a 90 percent blockage to his heart.

"I had to have a stent [put in]. I got kinda lucky that we found it before having a heart attack," said Romano. "[I had it] in the main artery, [in] the 'widowmaker.'"

Romano added, "So, of course, now I'm on the meds and my cholesterol dropped right away."

The comedian looked back and said he regretted not getting his heart issues treated sooner. "If I could go back 20 years, I would have gone on the meds," he said.

Though the medicine is helping, there's a caveat. "I'm on the meds and it's got me all down now, so I figured, 'Now I can enjoy some food'—my sugar level is up! I'm on the pre-diabetic side now," said the 65-year-old.

Marc Maron related to Romano's sugar-level struggles, saying he often finds his to be higher than expected, despite constantly working out.

The actor-screenwriter also asked Maron about his health. The podcast host said his cholesterol is borderline and revealed he's gone vegan for the past two months to "see how much of it is genetic [and] how much of it is food," admitting that he doesn't quite see the health benefits yet.

"I don't feel mentally better, I don't feel physically better," he said. He does, however, "not miss meat that much."
