Raptors Way street sign unveiled before season opener

Not only have the Toronto Raptors changed sports history for their city, but its streets as well.

Prior to the ring ceremony and raising of the championship banner on Opening Night, the Raptors unveiled the new sign for a street that was formally known as Bremner Boulevard.

Raptors Way will now represent the section or Bremner Blvd. that stretches through Maple Leaf Square, right outside of Scotiabank Arena.

Toronto mayor John Tory stopped by for the unveiling to say a few words.

”So what we did is we renamed this part of the street of Bremner Boulevard, Raptors Way in the Maple Leaf Square,” said Tory.

“And that’s a tribute to our team — our fantastic Raptors who won last year and made us so proud — and we’re going to win again this year.”

Beyond the bold prediction, Toronto clearly recognizes the impact that the championship team had on the city.

The memories and the street sign will no doubt last a very long time in Toronto.
