Pie: Anyone here ever visited Caribbean Islands during 1950s? If you did you will understand why many Caribbean Islanders (except Cuban American) are Socialists or with long Socialist tradition because at that time due to extremely hot weather there many people hang on outside all day long. They did not work or worked a couple hours at best per day. Completely different from Caribbean islanders, in USA everybody worked and took care of their family, higher moral standard, everyone acted responsibly and took responsibility for their actions. Children played on the street at inner city neighborhood and walked to school, nobody worry about safety issue. Neighborhood, house, and yard were clean and well maintained, we didn't have to lock our front doors at night. People had respect for each other, motivation and industrious are encouraged. Prosperous economy, Fairfield Yard near harbor had 40,000 workers, nearby Glenn Martin had 100,000 workers. Less illegal immigrants, Detroitization of municipality and Zimbabwenization of national debt were never in my fear. People voted for common good and interest for our country (NOT based on tribal or race line). Many people were happy; people did NOT like handout; less abusive in social welfare; very well respected international status, and we had only few billions sovereign debt even after we built Hoover dam, Tennessee valley hydroelectric project, and highest density highway system of the world to benefit hundreds millions people decades ago.
