Asia Argento, an outspoken advocate of the #MeToo movement and a Harvey Weinstein accuser, recently denied that she sexually assaulted former co-star Jimmy Bennett when he was 17 years old and she was 37. However, shortly after her denial, text messages that were reportedly Argento’s were leaked to TMZ, which seem to support Bennett’s accusations against the actress.
On Monday, actress and fellow proponent of #MeToo, Rose McGowan, released a statement that named model and activist Rain Dove as the person who brought the incriminating text messages between Argento and Dove to the police.
Dove is a 28-year-old model, actor, and activist. Recently, Dove appeared in Refinery29’s produced web series on Facebook, Strangers.
I love you. Wholly. Expansively. With the entirety of my being. No matter what you’ve done, where you’ve been, or how you’ve been- I love you. Every moment is a clean slate from right now. And now. And now. And now. And now. And now. And now, now, now. AND this love is granted to you without need for reciprocation. You don’t have to approve my lifestyle, find my body attractive, feel that I would be someone you would want to sit next to on the bus- it doesn’t matter. The love exists for you and you are not alone the moment you read this because I am here existing in this dimension with you and I care about your ability to acquire food, shelter, water and physical safety. Together- we are. #IamYours #EducateDontHate #BeingABeing #openmind #Lgbtq #genderqueer #genderfluid #genderisthematrix #TheseTitsDontJudge 📸@alexgeana

In her statement, McGowan says that she introduced Argento to Dove — the “being [she’s] been dating” — after the death of Argento’s boyfriend Anthony Bourdain. Together, McGowan, Dove, and Argento visited Berlin, where Argento “mentioned that she was being extorted for a large sum of money every month by someone who was blackmailing [Argento and Bourdain] with a provocative image.” Neither McGowan nor Dove knew at the time that the person was now 22-year-old Bennett.
Dove, who goes by the “they” pronoun, continued to text with Argento after their meeting, according to McGowan. “They said that they had been texting with Asia and that Asia had revealed that she had indeed slept with Jimmy Bennett. Rain also shared that Asia had stated that she’d been receiving unsolicited nudes of Jimmy since he had been 12,” McGowan states.
Dove informed McGowan that they wanted to take the text messages to the police. “An hour after our conversation was finished, Rain Dove confirmed that they had turned over the texts and were in conversation with officers. Almost 48 hours later, the texts were in the press.”
Which to wear on my wedding day? What do you think? It’s been long combatted amongst my family and peers which they would see me wear if marriage finds me at some point in life. Arguments heated with indignant rage have swept the room as people express their opinions and reasoning. From “Its tradition” to “Well they are butch so that’s what butches wear” to “Itd be a shame to miss out on the authentic experience every girl gets to have” to “that’s not what God intended” to “Rain is too manly for a dress anyway. It would be too hilarious” who knew a simple outfit could get so political? So, despite the fact that an aisle is not in my immediate future I did some research to determine which would be better for my wallet. The answer was not surprising at all… but the price tags were. The average cost of a wedding in the USA is apparently $32,506 according to several national statistics and the median is $16,774 WHAAAT?! 😳 and several traditions suggest the perceived “bride’s” parents pay for most of it. Usually 70-85% in fact! This interestingly enough also may apply to “same sex”/“gender weddings where a human is delegated “the butch” vs the “femme”. On top of that the average cost of a wedding dress is $1100-2500 whereas the average cost of a tux is $400-500. With tux rentals as cheap as $75 for the special day. Hair, makeup, accessories for the “bride” can cost average $650 plus 3-4 hours of prep time. Where as the “groom” pays an average of $80-150 and 1-2 hours max grooming time. Basically- getting married as the “bride” is EXPENSIVE. Far more so than for the “groom”. When I get married (if I choose to do so) and if I’m forced to be the “bride”, I’ll be doing everyone’s wallet and watch a favor by wearing a tux. If not then light up sneakers, ripped Henley shirt and a decent pair of dark jeans with some unicorn patches on them. And I’ll put all that saved money towards charity and the CAKE- which is the most important part anyway. 😬😬😬🍰🍰🍰 #aDRESSingTheIssue #ReasonsForGlitter #weddingdress #weddingcake #genderqueer #genderfluid #gendercapitalism #educatedonthate #lgbtq #frolic @mannaestore for the 📸 @crazyexgalpal 🖌@fellstonemanor

On Wednesday, Dove wrote a tweet seemingly aimed at Argento, stating, “Friend, family, acquaintance it doesn’t matter when it comes to justice — you do not get special treatment.”
The truth helps me sleep well at night. That’s why it’s coming out no matter what. Friend, family, acquaintance it doesn’t matter when it comes to justice- you do not get special treatment. You get equal treatment. Hope you’re ready. #MeToo pic.twitter.com/xvn9aFWx7G
