Rachel Lindsay Is Absolutely Thrilled Tayshia Adams Is the Second Black Bachelorette
Rachel Lindsay is super excited that Tayshia Adams is the next Bachelorette.
Rachel has been advocating for diversity on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for a while now, so she's happy Tayshia is the second Black woman to lead the way.
A lot has happened this past week with Clare Crawley's already-messy season of The Bachelorette, so here's a refresher: Clare ended up giving contestant Dale Moss her first impression rose, but later decided to quit the entire show after falling head-over-heels in love with him to the point where, uh...they might be engaged now??? IDK. But because of Clare's major news, Tayshia Adams is our newest Bachelorette! From what it looks like, Bachelor Nation seems pretty happy for Tayshia, and Rachel Lindsay is no exception.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rachel said she feels "thrilled" that Tayshia is going to be the next Bachelorette, and she is even more excited for Tayshia because she gets to be the second Black woman the franchise has ever had helming the show.
"When I stepped in as Bachelorette, I wanted to pave a way for more diversity, for more people who look like me and who didn’t look like the typical lead, so to see another Bachelorette of color, I’m thrilled," Rachel said.
It's no secret that Rachel has been an advocate for diversity within the Bachelor franchise—in June she slammed The Bachelor for failing to cast Black people in their programming, but it looks like her voice has finally been heard in recent months.
"I have been fighting for inclusion, and I‘ve said before that Tayshia would be an excellent Bachelorette, so I am more than happy to pass the torch," Rachel continued. "I am so excited to see what she’s going to do, how she will represent herself and her journey to find love. Now she’s in the driver’s seat, and I’m excited to see her get this opportunity."
