Nothing like some social media trolling to take the shine off an incredible night.

Though his Netflix show, Queer Eye, won for Best Structured Reality Series at Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmys, Jonathan Van Ness had to spend part of his evening taking on transphobic cyberbullies who mocked his red carpet look.

The 31-year-old beauty expert bucked the tuxedo trend by rocking a black dress — which featured a sheer top and beaded skirt with a leg slit worthy of Angelina Jolie — to the ceremony. High-heeled boots and an eye-catching black-and-silver clutch completed the daring ensemble.

But while Van Ness was very much feeling himself — as were fans who dubbed his look “iconic” and “an absolute dream” — some commenters couldn’t resist attacking the way he was dressed. Unfortunately for them, he was keeping an eye on his mentions, hunny.

“I look f***ing stunning and my name is Jonathan, snap chat filter using on your Insta tiny circle private profile having self,” the TV personality fired back at a commenter who wrote, “The guy in the dress looks like the villain in despicable me 3.

“Also, I love all these transphobic comments in here,” Van Ness added when Comments by Celebs picked up the interaction. “‘The guy in a dress’ is insulting and anyone that doesn’t see the implications is blind. F***ing [rude] people. I’m too tired.”

Other people piled on in the comments, saying Van Ness “needs a sense of humor.”

“This guy is so f***ing extra,” complained another critic. “You roasted some random for having a small circle and a private account? Meanwhile you’re wearing a f***ing dress.”

But the haters were in the minority, with fans such as Kelly Ripa and Chrissy Teigen giving Van Ness props for both his red carpet rebellion and handsome date.

“She’s giving you sheer, she’s giving you leg, she’s giving you eye candy,” read one approving comment.

“Thank you for freaking destroying gender norms and f***ing s*** up,” added another follower.

The verdict: No makeover needed here.
