Queen Letizia of Spain Reigns in the Black Tie Jumpsuit
Last night in Madrid, Queen Letizia of Spain joined her husband King Felipe VI at the Royal Theatre’s opening night gala performance of Fausto. For the grand occasion, Her Majesty eschewed conventional formalwear in favor of one easy piece: the evening jumpsuit.
The midnight blue Pedro del Hierro asymmetric jumpsuit featured delicate draping and pleating for a neo-Grecian feel, while the train lent drama. Clever paneling hid the trousers underneath, a la Amal Clooney in Richard Quinn at this year’s Met Gala.
Minimal accessories let the jumpsuit do the talking: An envelope clutch and suede heels were polished, understated finishing touches, while aquamarine drop earrings punctuated the look with sophisticated sparkle.
