Queen Elizabeth Doesn’t Break In Her New Shoes—Someone Else Does It for Her

Just because Queen Elizabeth is the longest standing female monarch doesn’t mean she’s mastered the art of breaking in her own shoes. In fact, the 93-year-old royal has someone do it for her.

Introducing the queen’s personal assistant and senior dresser, Angela Kelly. Kelly recently gave Hello! magazine an exclusive first look at her all-new memoir, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe.

In the book, Queen Elizabeth’s right-hand gal revealed that the monarch doesn’t have time to worry about blisters during royal outings. So, Kelly breaks in the footwear long before it reaches the queen’s feet.

“As has been reported a lot in the press, a flunky wears in Her Majesty’s shoes to ensure that they are comfortable and that she is always good to go. And yes, I am that flunky,” she admitted.

Kelly went on to blame the royal’s busy schedule, adding, “The queen has very little time to herself and not time to wear in her own shoes, and as we share the same shoe size, it makes the most sense this way.”

Kelly has served as the queen’s confidant for over 25 years. She received personal permission from Queen Elizabeth to write the memoir, which details her experience working with the royal family.

Now all we need is a friend as loyal as Kelly to break in our new L.K. Bennett pumps.
