Today, Queen Elizabeth had plans to mark the 100th anniversary of Northern Ireland, but she has canceled the trip upon medical advice to rest. "The Queen has reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days," reads a statement released by Buckingham Palace this morning.

"Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow. The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland, and looks forward to visiting in the future."

Per royal reporter and Town & Country contributor Victoria Murphy, a royal source confirmed that "this is not COVID related."

While the 95-year-old British monarch has recently been seen using a walking stick "for comfort," she has had a busy schedule as of late. Last week, she attended the opening ceremony of the Welsh Parliament, and on Tuesday evening she hosted the Global Investment Summit reception at Windsor Castle.

She also recently turned down an honor: Oldie of the Year from The Oldie magazine because she "does not believe she meets the relevant criteria."

"Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel, as such the Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept and hopes you find a more worthy recipient," wrote the Queen's assistant private secretary, Tom Laing-Baker, in a letter shared by The Oldie magazine on Tuesday.
