'The Queen of Beach Reads' Elin Hilderbrand Shares What's in Her TBR Pile

Elin Hilderbrand is the undisputed queen of the beach read. So, when Woman's Day spoke to the author about her latest Nantucket summer book, of course we also had to ask what she's reading right now. She shares the one romance author whose work she always reads, as well as the three books at the top of her summer to-be-read pile.
Hilderbrand, who selects a monthly book recommendation through her Literati Book Club, tells us, "I'm a purist as far as book influencing goes. I really want to bring other people's work to light." For her one book pick a month through the book subscription service, Hilderbrand says she focuses on female writers.
"The title of my book club is 'The Beach & Beyond' — I really quite honestly am more interested in the 'beyond.' I try and expand my readers' tastes by giving them really good books that are engaging. It has to move for me, it has to move along. And as far as I'm concerned, as long as the plot is moving along, it is a beach book. I have stayed away from things that are a little bit darker, out of respect for the title The Beach & Beyond, but I have picked some novels that have quite serious topics."
When asked about her personal favorite beach reads, Hilderbrand says, "I always read Jennifer Weiner, always, always." Also in her pile right now? "I have the new Emma Straub novel which I'm excited to read, I have a novel called The Wise Women, I'm going to read that early this summer, and I have The Cave Dwellers — I'm going to read that next."
Elin Hilderbrand's new novel, The Hotel Nantucket, will be released on June 14, 2022. Literati subscribers can access the title two weeks early, on June 1.
