These Parents Have No Clue What Their Famous Kids Do for a Living

What do a Victoria’s Secret model, a fashion photographer, and a makeup artist all have in common? Easy — their parents have no idea what they actually do for a living.

In this video, produced by luxury e-tail site Moda Operandi, we see a succession of famous fashion faces, from makeup artist Gucci Westman to VS model Daniela Braga, ask their parents and other loved ones a simple question: “What is my job?” And it turns out, nobody has a clue.

What does Faith Kates, model manager and the woman who launched Karlie Kloss’s career, do for a living? “I have no idea,” her mom admits. Wes Gordon, the fashion designer who built a million-dollar business before the age of 30? “You sit at your desk and draw all day,” Gordon’s mom opines. And Brandon Maxwell’s mom can’t even get his current job description right: “You’re a stylist, but you never style your own mother,” she complains in a Southern drawl. “Mother, I’m a designer,” Maxwell retorts with the insolence of a teenager being asked to turn his music down.

Parents: They just don’t understand. Not even when you’ve been in Vogue, like, 20 times. Sigh.
