If you’re looking to limit trips to the grocery store, you can always stock your entire pantry with non-perishables. But who wants to give up on fruits and veggies? Unfortunately, there’s no short cut here: keeping fresh foods in the house requires regular trips to the supermarket, and the reality is that every outing puts you at risk of contracting COVID-19 right now.
Luckily, you do have options. There are plenty of produce delivery services that will ship select fruits and vegetables right to your door; all you have to do is find one that works best for you. Here are some options to check out for your next big shop.
Hungryroot offers a lot of options with their delivery service. After answering some questions about your personal preferences, you can either hand-pick items or have the company curate a box for you. Then, they’ll deliver groceries (and recipes) on how to use them to your place. It’s possible to ~just~ have produce in your deliveries, like shaved Brussels sprouts, baby carrots, and spinach, or you can add in other food items as well. Plans average between $60 to $100 a week, and orders over $70 receive free shipping.
Farmbox Direct only deals with produce, and the company has a few different ways to help you get your fix. They offer small, medium, and large boxes of organic produce, as well as “all natural” produce. Prices range from $44 for a small box, up to $69 for an all-organic box. You can choose to get a mix of fruits and vegetables, just fruits, or just veggies from a curated menu that the company changes weekly.
Edible Arrangements doesn’t just do fruit arrangements—they’re now shipping uncut fruits and vegetables to customers. Choose from a curated fresh fruit box for $25, a fruit and vegetable mix for $30, and a fresh strawberry and banana box for $30, among other offerings.
If you prefer your fruit in smoothie form, Daily Harvest has got you covered. The delivery service will send all-fruit (or vegetable) smoothies your way, mixed up and ready to go. Just store them in your freezer and defrost when the time is right. The company offers weekly and monthly delivery services, that let you choose from smoothie options like Strawberry + Peach, Tart Cherry + Raspberry, and Mandarin + Carrot. Plans range from $67 for nine smoothies, to $172 for 24 smoothies.
Harry & David has been doing its Fruit of the Month Club for decades, and it’s still going. The company has a wide range of offerings, including three monthly shipments of seasonal fruit for $80, a medley combination for $120, and a vegetable shipment for $120.
The Fruit Company has several different monthly fruit delivery options, including an Americana package that ships seasonal fruit like pears, oranges, pineapples, and cherries to your home. Prices start at $99 for a three-month subscription, but you can get up to a 12-month subscription for $369.
