When you’re wearing a beautiful, billowy gown, it’s hard not to spin around and watch it twirl and catch air like a posh parachute. Quantico actress and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra donned a flowy, red chiffon dress for the Emmys on Sunday and did just that — taking total advantage of the full skirt in order to twirl in ethereal bliss for the eager cameras surrounding her.
The red dress, designed by Jason Wu, had an asymmetrical, one-shouldered top and a tiered skirt that matched the carpet she graced at last night’s Emmys preshow telecast. All eyes were on the smiling 34-year-old actress as she beamed and pranced and worked that skirt like nobody’s business. The cheerful display was reminiscent of Lupita Nyong’o’s emerald-green embroidered Gucci gown, which she wore — and danced and twirled in — at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Or the way she moved in her pale-blue Prada gown at the 2014 Academy Awards. The girl loves a good twirl.
Chopra seems to have been passed the baton, and she didn’t stop twirling once she left the red carpet. She continued to make that glorious dress move when she hit the stage with (newly Taylor Swift-less) Tom Hiddleston. The pair made an on-camera appearance to present the award for Director of an Outstanding Limited Series or a Movie. Chopra’s bright pout matched her frock — it was head-to-toe perfection.
Unable to get enough of the gown’s amazing sheer train, Chopra even posted a video clip, using the app Boomerang, to her Instagram. “You slayed, Queen,” one fan praised. “You are rocking in red,” another commented.
On Twitter, people were equally dazzled by Chopra’s twirl. One person tweeted, “#TomHiddleston may not have won the Emmy but he won our hearts by letting #PriyankaChopra twirl before they presented tonight. So Sweet!!” “They were on stage for like 2 minutes and I swear angels surrounded them both,” wrote @MagdaleenaMia, who posted two pics of the star and her billowy beauty of a gown.

And, of course, there are already GIFs of her now-famous, delightful red-carpet twirl.

Watching her heavenly moves, you’d never know Chopra was actually overheating on the red carpet. “I can’t wait to get into the air conditioning!” she told a red-carpet reporter. “I’m conserving my energy. Gentle moves,” she added.
And gentle she was, as she floated gracefully into the chilled auditorium, clouds of chiffon in her wake. Let’s hope this isn’t the last we see of the ChopraTwirl®.
