This Aviation Company Can Now Get You to the Airport in Style — With a New Luxury Car Partnership

Blade just got more luxurious.

Blade, the platform that will helicopter, seaplane, or jet you around urban destinations like New York City, is getting even more luxurious — and it’s all thanks to Mercedes-Benz. The air transport service and the luxury car company announced that Mercedes-Benz is the official luxury automotive partner to Blade.

Through the partnership, Mercedes will make three Blade-branded Maybachs available for guests to use between the Blade Lounges to the commercial terminals at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The same Maybachs — including an ICE SUV, an ICE Sedan, and an EQS SUV — will also be available at the arrival terminals of commercial airlines to swoop guests back to the Blade Lounge after landing.

“Providing luxury experiences is in Mercedes-Benz DNA, and through this partnership with Blade, our Maybach, and all top-end vehicles, will provide unique and seamless, best-in-class travel before and after flights,” Monique Harrison, the head of brand marketing at Mercedes-Benz U.S., shared in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure. “With Blade, we’re excited to bring even more customers an elevated offering through Mercedes-Benz vehicles and truly transform luxury travel in NYC.”

Here’s how it all works.

Travelers can book Blade seats via the company’s proprietary app, on blade.com, or by calling Blade Flier Relations at 1-844-359-2523. Guests can book a seat on a Blade helicopter to take them from the city to JFK or Newark International Airport (EWR) in Newark, New Jersey, starting at $195. (Travelers can also charter the same flight for up to six people for $1,875.)

Then, guests can book their inner-airport transfer, choose the time they’d like to arrive at their commercial terminal, and set up their private Maybach experience from there — and it's all included in the cost of the Blade flight.

Upon return from a trip, guests will receive a text from Blade alerting them to where their awaiting Maybach is at the arrivals terminal. However, if you want more, you can always book its meet-and-greet service upgrade and have a representative meet you inside baggage claim and escort you to the car.

And, as the company notes, guests are welcome to enjoy the private lounge on West 30th Street, East 34th Street, and Newark Airport before or after the flight.
