Sofia Coppola's new A24 movie Priscilla, starring Jacob Elordi as rock star Elvis Presley and Cailee Spaeny as his bride Priscilla Presley, is the second feature film in as many years to explore the life of one of the most famous couples in the history of American pop culture. However, unlike 2022's Elvis, this story is based on Priscilla's memoir Elvis & Me, and looks at their life and relationship through her eyes.

However, while the story does include key chapters in Priscilla's life, it is limited to her time with Elvis. Which means that while their daughter, Lisa Maria Presley, appears as a young child, Priscilla's second child, who she had years later with somebody else, is not included in the narrative.

Who is Navarone Garcia?

Priscilla gave birth to Navarone in 1987, a full 21 years after having Lisa Marie. His father is music producer Mario Garibaldi. And just like his half-sister and father, Navarone grew up to have musical aspirations; he sings and plays the guitar, and founded the band Them Guns in 2012.

While Navarone remains close to his mother, he does not have a relationship with his father, after it was revealed that Mario had been lying about his background: he was not Italian as he claimed, but rather came from Brazil, where he had grown up with the name Garcia, not Garibaldi. Despite being estranged, however, Navarone now enjoys a relationship with many of his cousins from his father's extended Brazilian family.

Following the death of Lisa Marie in 2022, Navarone posted a tribute to his sister on Instagram. "Big sister… i hope you are now at peace and happy with your Dad and your son by your side," he wrote. "I know the past couple years weren’t easy for you, and I wish things had been different between us. Regardless, you are my sister and I’m sending love and prayers for your journey home."

He has since spoken about his own struggles with substance abuse, revealing in an interview with People that he became addicted to opioids after starting to take heroin in high school.

"I was under the impression I was doing heroin, but then it'd turn out to be fentanyl. That was a whole different beast. I became so addicted that I'd need it every 45 minutes," he said. It wasn't until the pandemic began that his then-girlfriend, Elisa Achilli, helped him get clean.

"When COVID happened, I wanted to go and see her for more than three or four days," he said. "I didn't want to have to bring a pound of fentanyl with me anywhere I went. I buckled down and said, 'Let's see how bad this can get.’ I was pretty much in my bed in the fetal position all day. It feels like a different lifetime, almost."

He and Achilli got married in 2022 in her home country of Switzerland, after four years together. "I never thought I would find a counterpart that is so understanding and supportive," he said of Achilli following the ceremony. "She makes everything we do effortless, and I can't imagine life without her."
