Princess Catherine is back home after more than one week in the hospital.

Today, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery, following her planned abdominal surgery. And, the palace said, Kate “is making good progress.” A royal source also told, “The Princess is in good spirits.”

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world,” the palace statement said.

In the statement, Kate also thanked the entire team at the London Clinic, including her “dedicated nursing staff,” for taking such good care of her.

The royal underwent planned abdominal surgery on January 16. Kensington Palace revealed the news in a statement at the time, saying: “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery.”

The palace added that Kate wanted to maintain her privacy on the matter, so the reason for her surgery was not made clear to the public. Still, Bazaar did quickly learn the princess’s condition was not cancerous.

“Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’s progress when there is significant new information to share,” the palace said.

While Kate was hospitalized, husband Prince William was seen driving himself to the hospital to visit her. King Charles III also visited Kate ahead of his own procedure last week. (The monarch was treated for an enlarged prostate.)

Now that she’s back home, Kate is expected to resume her royal engagements after Easter, which falls on March 31 this year.
