Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank today in a royal wedding ceremony at St. George’s Chapel Windsor Castle.

The wedding was attended by senior royals including the Queen, Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Except, just 90 minutes before the start time of 11am, the crowds outside the venue looked noticeably thin.

This has prompted unfortunate comparisons to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding at the same location on 19 May this year, where 2,400 well-wishers turned up in the Windsor Castle Grounds.

Commentators on Twitter were quick to point out the relative sparse turn-out from the public compared to this year’s first royal wedding.

Others noted the disparity between the masses of police and security teams present at the wedding today versus the seeming lack of member of the public.

It was also noted that many of the spectators at the Long Walk left as soon as the car carrying Princess Eugenie drove past.

Anti-monarchy group Republic told Yahoo Style UK the wedding was a “tepid affair”.

A spokesperson said: “There is no one in the tourist shops. I walked past a man who had made Princess Eugenie and Jack scarfs, selling them for £5, and no one had bought them.

“There are loads of police, some from Wales, others from Oxford, which is three hours away. Parts of the routes have more police than civilians.

“The fancy hotels are full of guests but guest houses that are run local people are not full, and the bed and breakfast I am at still has vacancy. It seems more of a tepid affair.”
