Princess Diana's 1989 Visit to New York Is Re-created for 'The Crown' Season 4

From Harper's BAZAAR

  • Emma Corrin has been photographed filming a scene as Princess Diana in The Crown Season 4.

  • Manchester in England was transformed into New York for the Netflix show.

  • The actress' hair was perfectly coiffed, just like Diana's, and she wore a houndstooth suit, a style which was beloved by the princess.

The Crown Season 4 is currently in production, and thanks to some eagle-eyed photographers, we've been getting an insight into what new episodes will entail.

Having already spotted actress Emma Corrin filming Princess Diana's wedding rehearsal, photographers have now captured the star re-creating the royal's trip to New York.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, "Princess Diana made a solo trip to New York in 1989, visiting the Henry Street Settlement that was a halfway house for homeless families in the lower east side of Manhattan.... It was on this same trip that she famously paid a visit to young AIDS patients at a Harlem Hospital."

While Princess Diana wore a very different look during her 1989 trip to NYC, the timeline fits with where Season 4 of The Crown is headed. Plus, Corrin's hair and makeup seems to be a perfect replication of Diana's New York style.

Diana did, however, wear similar suits during her life, including one during a trip to New York in 1995.

Of Corrin's performance, actor Josh O'Connor, who plays Prince Charles on the show, previously told BAZAAR.com, "Emma's doing a brilliant job, and it's breathtakingly accurate; she looked the spitting image [of Diana], and it's kind of extraordinary. So that's kind of spooky."
