How Princess Diana Will Be Part of Prince Harry’s Wedding

After ensuring that his beloved mother was a part of his engagement day (Prince Harry included two of Diana’s diamonds in Meghan’s ring), Harry is making sure the late princess won’t be forgotten on May 19.

While foreign royals, leading politicians, and dignitaries won’t have a pew at St. George’s Chapel, the late Princess of Wales’s side of the family will be well represented at the nuptials. Vanity Fair has learned that Harry has invited “the entire Spencer clan” to the big day, including his uncle Earl Spencer, his two aunts Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, and all of his cousins.

“Harry has always kept in close touch with the Spencers and they have all received invitations,” says a family friend. “Harry gets on well with his aunts and uncle and they have met Meghan. His cousins all have the golden ticket—an invite to the ceremony and reception and the evening party.”

The young Spencers are known to enjoy a good party, which is just as well as Harry and Meghan are planning an all-night bash on the grounds of Frogmore House. Just weeks after he started romancing Meghan, Harry flew to South Africa for his cousin George McCorquodale’s wedding, where cameras were banned to ensure that the celebrations stayed totally private. Harry and Meghan plan to do the same and will insist on a mobile phone ban at their wedding party.

George’s sisters, Emily and Celia, will join their cousins Kitty, Amelia, and Eliza and their brother, Louis (the offspring of Earl Spencer’s first marriage). Kitty, who lives in London, often partied with the prince at Boujis during his 20s and the two are particularly close. Kitty also knows Harry’s ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Earl Spencer will be joined by his third wife, Canadian-born Karen, while Harry’s aunt Lady Jane and her husband, Lord Fellowes, a former private secretary to the Queen, will be joined by their daughter Laura Fellowes (who is Princess Charlotte’s godmother) and their other two children, Alexander and Eleanor.

Although St. George’s Chapel has a capacity of 800, Meghan and Harry have chosen not to fill the church, inviting 600 guests to their wedding and just 200 guests for the evening reception. It was revealed this week that neither Theresa May nor Donald Trump—nor even former president Barack Obama, who has been friends with Harry for years—has been invited. Unlike William and Kate’s wedding which was a state occasion at Westminster Abbey, Harry and Meghan are not under the same obligation to invite heads of state or foreign royals although they are likely to invite some. Prince Seeiso of Lesotho is a close friend of Harry’s, while Meghan knows Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie.
