Royal followers have been curious to find out Princess Beatrice’s baby’s name ever since hearing the news that the princess and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed a baby girl together after one year of marriage.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo, who got married in July 2020, announced the birth of their daughter on September 18, 2021, though they didn’t reveal her name at the time. They waited nearly two weeks before they finally announced their daughter’s name, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, on October 1. “We are delighted to share that we have named our daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi. We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna,” Princess Beatrice wrote on Twitter at the time. Wolfie is the Princess of York’s stepson and Edoardo’s first child, whom he shares joint custody of with his ex-fiancée Dara Huang.

Sienna’s middle name is a tribute to her great-grandmother the Queen. While it’s not clear if her first name has any special meaning to the couple, it’s possible that it’s inspired by the Italian city of the same name as a nod to her father Edoardo’s Italian heritage (Princess Beatrice’s husband belongs to the Italian royal House of Savoy.)

Before Sienna’s name was announced, many predicted that Princess Beatrice’s baby would be given an untraditional name. In a report published on Monday, September 20, Ladbrokes’ Head of PR Jessica O’Reilly told People that many were betting on names like Matilda, Florence, Arabella and Cecelia for the royal baby. “It should come as no surprise to see that punters are backing slightly more unusual names for the new royal baby given Beatrice and her sister’s monikers,” O’Reilly said at the time. “Matilda and Florence are proving popular names at the top of the betting, along with other Italian-inspired choices such as Arabella and Giovanna.”

Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care.”
