What Prince William Whispered to Kate Middleton on Wedding Day, According to Lip-Reader

Cast your mind back to 2011 for a moment, if you will, and relive the glamorous and historic moment of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding at London’s Westminster Abbey, as rather excitingly, a lip-reader has now finally decoded the sweet thing that Prince William said to Kate Middleton at the aisle.

With a variety of celebrities in attendance and the whole world watching, Kate made her way down the aisle with her father, Michael Middleton, in a stunning McQueen dress. As she reached center stage, greeting Prince William, the two inaudibly exchanged words briefly before making their vows.

Given that we were so intrigued and engrossed in the ceremony—and we weren’t close enough to be in hearing range, sadly—we missed what exactly the duke said to his bride at the time, but professional lip-reader Tina Lannin now claims to know the answer.

According to Lannin, who spoke to CBS News about it, the words exchanged were not “What’s for dinner?” or “Did you see the Beckhams?” but instead “You look lovely. You look beautiful.” Excuse us while we just feel all the feels!

As he turned to future father-in-law Michael, Prince William apparently also joked, “We’re supposed to have just a small family affair!”

Lannin further revealed that as the ceremony came to a close and the two newlyweds headed for their carriage, they exchanged a sweet conversation of reassurance among all the adoring fans and spectators.

The lip-reader has theorized that in the carriage, William said, “I hope I remember…it’s mad! Oh my goodness, it’s…really loudly here.” As they reached the balcony to wave at onlookers and share a kiss, William also said, “Alright? You’ll be okay?” to Kate, and she replied, “Yes.”
