Prince William Shared a Sweet Photo of Prince Philip and Prince George in Honor of His Grandfather

From Town & Country

When the news first broke last week that Prince Philip, had passed away at the age of 99, the royal family presented a united public statement. Progressively, over the course of the ensuing days, many of the royals have also come out with individual statements as well, speaking out about what the late Duke of Edinburgh meant to them personally. Earlier today, Prince William shared a message about his grandfather, calling him "an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation."

Along with his message, the Duke of Cambridge also shared a sweet family photo, as seen above. The image, which was taken by Kate Middleton in Norfolk in 2015, shows Prince Philip sitting alongside William and Kate's oldest son Prince George in what appears to be a horse-drawn carriage. That certainly seems to reflect William's message, in which he recalls his grandfather picking the kids up in his carriage and carrying them on adventures. "I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!" he wrote.

William has long been said to have enjoyed a close relationship with his grandfather—he reportedly referred to him simply as a "legend" when Matt Smith asked his advice on playing the Duke of Edinburgh in the early seasons of The Crown—and in sharing this sweet photo reminds the public of Philip's important role within his family as well in addition to his service as a working royal.
