- Prince William told a friend that he and Prince Harry are “separate entities.”
- William is reportedly hurt and upset by Harry’s decision to step down from the royal family.
The royal family has had ~a lot~ of feelings about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s announcement to step down (many of them not great, TBH), but perhaps the most heartbreaking reaction is from Harry’s brother, Prince William.
Prince William has apparently been talking to his friends about Harry and Meghan’s big announcement, and according to the Sunday Times, he has expressed “sadness” about his severed bond with Harry and the fact that the royal family isn’t a “team” any longer. He reportedly told a friend:
“I’ve put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can’t do that anymore; we’re separate entities. All we can do, and all I can do, is try and support them and hope that the time comes when we’re all singing from the same page. I want everyone to play on the team.”
This comes after earlier reports that William was “blindsided” by Meghan and Harry’s decision. A source said that “there’s still a rift between the two brothers. It’s sad because when they were younger, William would be the first person Harry would go to with big news like this.” They also added that “William is incredibly hurt, but at the same time, he has his own family to focus on and is trying to move forward with his life.”
All that said, Harry and William are going to be meeting tomorrow to talk with the queen and Prince Charles about Harry and Meghan’s new roles, so hopefully, they can work it out.
