Prince William And Kate Middleton Might Send Prince George to Boarding School

From Women's Health

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William are debating whether or not to send Prince George to boarding school.

  • It’s a royal tradition to send the kids to boarding school when they’re 8 years old.

  • Prince George may attend Ludgrove School in Berkshire, England, like Prince William and Prince Harry did.

  • The Cambridges have a year to decide.

Most people don’t even know what school is going to look like this year, but Kate Middleton and Prince William are already planning ahead for Prince George. The little royal turns 7 this month, which means he’ll likely be sent away to boarding school next fall.

Prince George is currently enrolled at Thomas’s Battersea in London, but per royal tradition, when he turns 8, boarding school it is! It’s expected that he’ll follow in his dad’s and Uncle Harry’s footsteps and join the “full-time boarders” Ludgrove School in Berkshire, England, and Eton College for secondary school, but royal expert Ingrid Seward told OK! that this is a decision and tradition the Cambridges will weigh “very carefully.”

Even though 8 is just a year away for George, Seward said, “I doubt the royals will have to go on any waiting lists, so they won’t need to rush their decision.” Plus, she’s not convinced the royals even feel the need to send their eldest away to school.

She added, “I think they’ll wait to see how the children’s personalities develop and take into consideration whether or not they would be happy to live away from home. Having experienced terrible trauma in his own childhood, William is very tuned in to his children’s mental health. I think William and Kate’s view will be, if the children are happy in their school, why change things?”

The pandemic has truly thrown everyone for a loop, so time will tell if it’s even safe to send Prince George to a boarding school next year.
