In April, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth, passed away at the age of 99. Since then, many members of the royal family have shared sweet remembrances of the departed royal, from family photos of Philip that were made public for the first time to Princess Eugenie's moving Instagram post to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tribute to the late prince on their Archewell website. Recently the family has also begun sending out notes of gratitude to fans who sent words of condolence on the passing of Prince Philip, including a particularly sweet one from the Cambridges.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank you for your kind words following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh," the family wrote, according to an Instagram post sharing images of the note. "Their Royal Highnesses have been incredibly moved by the many thoughtful messages they have received in recent weeks. They will all miss their much loved grandfather and great-grandfather, but your message has provided great comfort at this difficult time."

The mention of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis's grief isn't the first time since Philip's passing that the Camrbidges have shared word of their children's affection for the late Duke of Edinburgh. Shortly after the prince's death, Prince William released a statement calling his grandfather "an extraordinary man" along with a photo of Philip and George in a carriage. "I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa," William wrote.

Of course, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge aren't the only royals to thank fans for their recent well-wishes. The Queen sent out a simple note of appreciation, sharing her "sincere thanks" for the "kind words of sympathy", while Prince Charles sent out message along with a childhood photo of himself and his father.

“The Prince of Wales thanks you so much for your very kind message of sympathy. His Royal Highness has been enormously touched by the many generous messages that have been received in recent days; they have provided great comfort at this very sad time," Charles's message reads. "The Prince of Wales sends you his warmest thanks and best wishes.”
