Prince William & Kate Middleton Are the First Royals to Reach This *Major* Achievement

Prince William and Kate Middleton just reached a major milestone on social media that most people can only dream about.

As of this week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Instagram account has surpassed 13 million followers.

The milestone solidifies their position as the most followed royal Instagram account, as Hello! magazine points out. After Prince William and Middleton, the runner-up is the family’s joint page (@TheRoyalFamily), which has 10.3 million followers. The next closest royals are Princess Eugenie and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, who both have 1.5 million followers. (FYI: Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles share the @ClarenceHouse account.)

It’s important to note there’s one other Instagram that would likely be in contention (if it weren’t defunct): Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s @SussexRoyal page. While it currently has 10.1 million followers, it would have probably accumulated more had the royal family not shut it down.

Still, we’re not totally surprised by Prince William and Middleton’s popularity. Not only are they the future King and Queen of England, but they’ve also been growing their online presence as of late.

It all started earlier this year when they changed their Instagram handle from @KensingtonRoyal to @DukeandDuchessofCambridge. Shortly after, Prince William and Middleton announced that they’re launching an all-new YouTube channel, where they post personal messages and videos from their many royal outings. For example, the duchess participated in her first-ever Q&A session on Instagram and then shared a rare Reel from her and Prince William’s royal train tour.

Sending congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
