  • Kate Middleton and Prince William are staying at Anmer Hall instead of their home at Kensington Palace.

  • William and Kate aren’t traveling because of surging COVID-19 cases and a third lockdown in London.

2021 may officially be here, but unfortunately, we are *still* grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic (and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise). While the virus is still raging here in America, the UK just got hit with a newer, more contagious COVID-19 strain. As a result, it’s entered a third lockdown, schools are closing down, and the British royals—Prince William and Kate Middleton—are halting their plans to move back to Kensington Palace following their holiday off.

According to a new Mirror report, William and Kate will be staying at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England (where they celebrated Christmas), for the “foreseeable future” as opposed to returning to London where cases have started spiking again. The report also says the Cambridges have started up the ever-fun task of homeschooling their three kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—until they can attend Thomas’s Battersea and The Willcocks Nursery School again.

Until it’s safe to return to Kensington Palace, Kate and William will reportedly begin working from Anmer Hall and have a heavy emphasis on supporting charities and businesses as the lockdown continues. “The family is committed to working together to help the country through the next stage of the crisis,” a royal source told the Mirror. “Plans are already in place to reach out to a range of charities and businesses, and fortunately, they are well versed in the world of video calls now.”

Sincerely hoping everyone remains healthy in these troubling times!
