When Is Prince Louis's Christening?

• Kensington Palace recently announced that Prince Louis will be christened on Monday, July 9.

Duchess Kate has made several public appearances during her maternity leave, most notably at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in May and up on the Buckingham Palace Balcony during Trooping the Colour on June 9. But we haven't little Prince Louis since he made his debut on the Lindo Wing steps shortly after his birth on April 23.

It's understandable, given that most pediatricians recommend babies stay away from large crowds until they're at least two months old for health reasons. But royal fans won't have to wait too much longer to see the littlest member of Prince William and Duchess Kate's family; his christening will be on Monday, July 9.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that the christening of Prince Louis will take place on Monday 9th July at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London," reads a statement from Kensington Palace. "Prince Louis will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby."

Details about godparents have yet to be announced. The date of Louis's baptism, just over two months after his birth, follows the timeline established by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Prince George was baptized at the Chapel Royal in London’s St. James’s Palace in late October, three months after he was born.

Princess Charlotte's christening, on the other hand, took place at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Norfolk, and was held on July 5, 2015 just over two months after she was born.
