Prince Harry Was Supposed to be Prince William's "Secret Weapon" Once Will Became King
Prince Harry was allegedly meant to help out Prince William when Will ascends the British throne, People reveals.
A source said Harry was supposed to "pick up the bits" that William wouldn't be good at, whatever that means.
The royal tea keeps on coming. Things are finally beginning to calm down juuuust a little bit after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their bombshell announcement that they'd be stepping back from their senior duties, but that was just an excuse for all of the royal family's secrets to come out—let's be real. We're getting some new details about Prince William and Harry's rocky relationship, so buckle TF up!
Now, Penny Junor—English journalist and author of Prince Harry: Brother, Soldier, Son—is contributing to the cultural conversation and revealed that the initial royal fam plan was for Harry to help out William once Will becomes the King of England. Yeah...something kinda tells me that won't be happening anymore, LOL.
“Courtiers imagined in the future that Harry would be shoulder-to-shoulder with William when he was King,” Junor told People. “He would pick up the bits that William wouldn’t be as good for. They would be complimentary and side-by-side throughout their lives.”
“That was a lovely picture,” she continued. “Harry was the secret weapon, really.” Of course, this ended up not being the case because the brothers' infamous royal rift happened.
People's report revealed that once William cautioned Harry to slow down with Meghan (Harry initially wanted to marry Meghan after less than a year of dating), Harry's feelings were hurt. But that's not the only issue Harry and William had with each other.
According to Penny, Harry often had to deal with being “the spare” to William from the time he was born, which is just so, so sad. “It’s not terribly good for your self-confidence,” she said. “He was always compared to William: William was the good-looking one, the important one, the clever one. Harry was the also-ran [loser in a contest]. I think that did take a toll on him.”
Welp, Harry is officially on his way to separating himself from William once and for all now that he won't be a senior royal anymore. Thankfully, he can be his own person the second he touches down in Canada!
