Prince Harry is taking a moment to honor children and families making a difference.

Earlier this week, the Duke of Sussex sent an encouraging video message on behalf of WellChild, the national U.K charity he has been a patron of for over a decade. Harry, who is sporting a light blue button-down shirt in the video, filmed the entire message while standing in front of a background filled with flowers and plants.

At the start of the video, Harry conveys his love and admiration for the charity. “For the past 15 years that I’ve been patron, I’ve been immensely grateful for the work that WellChild does and moved by the stories I hear and the people I meet,” he says in the vid. “For children and young people with complex medical needs, WellChild provides high-quality care services and the opportunity to thrive at home alongside their families.”

And the royal goes on to commend seriously-ill children and their families for their continued “resilience” and “fortitude.” Before the video ends, Harry shares his desire to celebrate those making a change in people’s lives and asks for nominations for the 2023 WellChild Awards.

“Right now, you can play a role in highlighting someone in your life who inspires you,” he continues. “By nominating someone for a WellChild award, you have the opportunity to introduce someone special to the WellChild family.”

On a final note, Harry adds, “Each year, I so look forward to meeting with the award winners and spreading awareness about this incredible charity. I hope this year, you'll join me and get involved. Nominate someone today.”

Even though Harry couldn’t attend the 2022 WellChild Awards—due to learning about his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s declining health—the royal did surprise the winners of the award with a surprise video call.

During the video call, Harry had a candid conversation with a young boy named Henry Waines (who won the Inspirational Child award in the four-to-six-year-old category). When the duke heard the child’s voice, he was instantly reminded of his son, Archie. “You sound just like my son Archie…You have the same little squeaky voice. I love it,” he said.

What a touching message from the duke.
