Prince Harry and Prince William Have Spoken Following Oprah Interview

The ice is sort of maybe kind of thawing between Prince Harry and the royal family?

Much has been said (or rather left unsaid) in the aftermath of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey. Queen Elizabeth made a brief statement regarding the revelations Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought forth, calling the problems they spoke of "concerning."

Days after the queen's formal response, Prince William responded to a reporter asking whether the royal family was racist by telling them, "we're very much not a racist family." That clears that up …

At the time, William also said that he planned to speak with his brother.

On Tuesday's episode of CBS This Morning, Gayle King revealed that she'd recently spoken to the Sussexes and could confirm that Prince Harry has spoken to both his brother and father since the interview aired.

"Well I'm not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling, and it's true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too," King said. "The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation."

Adding her commentary, King continued, "And I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still."

King revealed that "no one in the Royal family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time," adding, "I think it's frustrating for them to see that it's a racial conversation about the royal family when all they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant."

As for the continued efforts by the British tabloids to disprove claims Markle made in the interview, King said the duchess has receipts.

"Meghan has documents to back up everything that she said on Oprah's interview," King clarified. "Everything."
