Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Share a Sweet Engagement Anniversary Post on Instagram

Two years ago today, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement to the world—and the British monarchy hasn’t been the same since.

The couple marked the milestone on Instagram with a sweet slideshow of photos: The first shows Harry and Meghan holding hands at Kensington Palace, the day of their engagement. The second is a candid black and white shot from their May 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle, and the final photo shows them holding their newborn son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, on the day he met grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

“27 of November 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the news of their engagement, later becoming Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex! They have since celebrated their wedding anniversary and welcomed their son, Archie, into the world,” the gallery was captioned, punctuated by an emoji heart.

It’s been a whirlwind two years for the couple—not just because, as the social media post states, they married and welcomed their first child. They’ve also started making their mark on the monarchy, undergoing overseas tours of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, Southern Africa, and Morocco. They have also developed signature causes: Prince Harry, for example, continued his conservation work with a sustainable travel initiative, Travalyst. Meanwhile, Meghan championed women’s empowerment, from a cookbook by women affected by the Grenfell Fire, to a capsule collection with Misha Nonoo for Smart Works, a charity that helps underprivileged women find employment, to guest editing British Vogue’s “Forces for Change” issue, which highlighted female change-makers.

They’ve also faced some difficulties. In their recent documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, the Duchess admitted she’s struggled under the intense spotlight. Currently, the couple are pursuing legal action against multiple British tabloids for invasion of privacy as well as the publishing of false stories.

Currently, they are enjoying time off from royal duties, and will be spending the holidays with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. Perhaps, tonight, a family celebration is in order.
