Prince Harry and Meghan Markle respond to claims they're suing South Park over spoof episode

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have denied claims that they're suing over a recent South Park episode – which was branded "brutal" by critics – that appeared to mock them and their ongoing struggles with life in the public eye.
ICYMI, last week the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seemingly became the focus of a South Park episode titled, "The Worldwide Privacy Tour". Although the pair weren't named in the episode – which told the story of a prince and his wife who had moved to a new town – the characters' similarities to Harry and Meghan were hard to ignore. For example, South Park's prince had striking ginger hair, whilst the prince's wife wore a near-identical outfit to that seen on Megan at the Trooping the Colour in 2018.
In the episode, the prince and his wife went on a global tour and held placards that read: "Stop looking at us!" and "We want our privacy!!" Fans took this to be a jab at the Sussexes, who recently opened up about their relationship with the media in a six-part Netflix series and again in Harry's much-anticipated memoir.
After the episode aired, rumours began to swirl that Harry and Meghan were planning to sue the creators of the hit show, something which their representative has now denied. "It's all frankly nonsense. Totally baseless, boring reports," the Sussexes' rep told People.
Privacy is something that the couple have been incredibly vocal about, increasingly since they stepped back from life as senior working royals in 2020. Notably, in the Sussexes' bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan addressed the invasions of privacy that she and her family had been subjected to.
"I think everyone has a basic right to privacy," Meghan said in response to a question about whether she and Harry should expect to lose privacy due to their royal status. "Basic. We're not talking about anything that anybody else wouldn't expect."
