Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Have Reportedly Been Demoted on the Official Royal Website

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been demoted on the official royals website.

On June 5, Page Six reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been moved down the website’s list of working Royal Family members. According to the report, the post had been “under construction” in previous weeks but has been set live once again. And now Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who allegedly used to be featured just below Prince William and Kate Middleton, are following the Earl and Countess of Wessex. This puts them in the 10th and 11th slots.

Perhaps the reason for this switch lies in Prince Harry’s updated bio. “As announced in January, The Duke and Duchess have stepped back as senior members of The Royal Family,” his bio now states. “They are balancing their time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour their duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and their patronages. Frogmore Cottage in the UK remains their family home.”

Markle’s bio has been adjusted as well, with the following addition: “The Duchess will continue to support a number of charitable causes and organizations which reflect the issues with which she has long been associated including the arts, access to education, support for women, and animal welfare.”

In recent months Prince Harry has been opening up further about his decision to step down as a senior royal and to move his wife and child to the United States. Back in May, he described growing up in the royal spotlight as “a mix between The Truman Show and living in a zoo.”

Still, in an interview with James Corden that aired in February—before that internet-breaking interview with Oprah Winfrey—he said that their move was “never walking away; it was stepping back rather than stepping down.” He added, “I did what any husband and what any father would do, which is, ‘I need to get my family out of here,’ but we never walked away.”
