Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are embracing their new normal. Less than a month after they announced their plans to step back from their senior positions in the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first public appearance together at a private event for JPMorgan in Miami this week.

News of their attendance at the gathering, which was apparently held at 1 Hotel in South Beach, was originally reported by Page Six. Town & Country has also learned that while Harry gave a speech at the function, Meghan did not.

The Sussexes have largely stayed out of the public eye in recent weeks. Before leaving the UK, Harry attended a few final engagements, and Meghan has started to get to know the non-profit community in Vancouver by making surprise visits to women's empowerment organizations, but in general, they've been keeping a low profile.

That said, their appearance in Miami could hint at their future endeavors on the private speaking circuit. Meghan has also already inked a deal with Walt Disney to do voiceover work.

Little is known about what the voiceover is for, but Meghan reportedly recorded it before the holidays, and it will benefit the wildlife conservation charity Elephants Without Borders.

Additionally, Prince Harry has teamed up with Oprah to produce a new series about mental health for Apple TV+, and the royal couple has previously said that they hope to launch their new charitable operation in 2020.

"These plans take a lot of time," a source told People this week, "and staff are putting in the legwork to prepare it properly and make sure it delivers on the expectations and the couple’s ambitions."
