Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a deal with Netflix.
They will reportedly produce feature films, scripted TV shows, children's shows, documentaries, and docu-series.
Hear ye! Hear ye! Special royal announcement coming straight to your fave streaming device: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially signed a deal with Netflix!
According to The New York Times, Meghan and Harry are working through their new production company, which is separate from their Archewell foundation and doesn't have a name just yet. Reportedly, through this deal, Meghan and Harry will produce documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming. So, yeah, you could say they covered all their bases!
While I am personally holding out hope that they will compete on the next season of The Circle or portray their own characters in The Crown, it seems like their deal is more focused on producing content instead of starring in new projects. There is a bit of hope, though! According to NYT, they might show up in some of the documentary program.
To announce this exciting news, Meghan and Harry released a statement saying:
"Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us...[Netflix's] unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action."
While we don't know exactly how much they stand to make from this deal, it's probably a significant amount judging by how much Netflix has dedicated to high-profile projects in the past. If history is any indication, Meghan and Harry may have already arranged to donate some of their earnings to charitable causes.
However all this pans out, you've been warned! Text your friends to get their Netflix login now so you're not left out in the cold when their programming drops!
