Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Finally Sent Out Invites with the Dress Code (So We Know What to Wear, of Course)
Planning a wedding is hard work. Planning a royal wedding? It’s next level. If you thought coordinating your 100-person seating arrangement was a headache, imagine having to decide which special 2,600 members of the public will receive exclusive invitations to what is sure to be one of the most-watched events in the world. (Don’t worry, we still totally feel for anyone figuring out where to put Aunt Linda.)
Luckily, though, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry get to check off one more item from their major wedding to-dos: the invites.
This morning, Kensington Palace announced the couple had mailed their invitations, and we’ve got the deets:
Guests are invited to the May 19 noon service at St. George’s Chapel followed by the lunch reception at St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, which will be given by the queen. A more exclusive 200-person reception will follow later that night at Frogmore House in Kensington Palace. The dress code, you ask? Men must wear a uniform, morning coat or lounge suit, while women are asked to wear a day dress with hat.
The palace also tweeted that the gold-and-black invites made by Barnard & Westwood “follow many years of royal tradition” (you won’t find any wedding hashtags at this event). For example, they’ve been printed with the feathered badge of the Prince of Wales in gold ink with a“process known as die stamping, on a machine from the 1930s” (and we thought our watercolor flower motif was fancy...). Most interesting,they feature American ink on an English card. Kinda like Meghan and Harry...cute.
We just hope they have our current address.
