To celebrate his birthday, Prince Harry opted for a low-key, casual celebration with his wife, Meghan Markle and their Archewell staff in Düsseldorf last night, to round off their trip to Germany for the annual Invictus Games.

Harry, who turns 39 today, headed to a traditional German restaurant - Schumacher Brewery - famed for its local beer, Schumacher Alt, which is also being served at the Games.

According to onlookers (who were asked not to take pictures of the couple), Harry, Meghan and co shared some traditional German 'family style' dishes, including the hearty Bratwurst, wiener schnitzel, red cabbage and mashed potato. (We are literally drooling rn.) All washed down - apparently - by six small beers (Harry), while Meghan just stuck to one. Sources also revealed that Harry blew out the candles on a white chocolate birthday cake while the rest of their party laughed, joked, and generally kicked back for the evening.

While the diners were forbidden from snapping pictures of the royal guests, it didn't stop restaurant owner, Thea Ungermann - who described (as per MailOnline) Harry as a "lovely man" having a "very jolly time," and Meghan as a "lovely woman" - and head waiter Frank Wackers from sneaking a selfie with their famous guests.

Taking to Instagram, the thrilled staff shared the image to their grid, accompanied by a caption that read: "Welcome to Düsseldorf" followed by the handles for the Sussex Royals IG page, plus the Invictus Games.

To match the chilled-out birthday vibes, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also kept their attires super relaxed, too. Harry donned a grey shirt tucked into his jeans, complete with a pair of teal suede trainers, as Meg sported a red and white pin-striped shirt, a pair of tapered white jeans and some beige ballet pumps. She polished off the look with a loose low bun with her bangs wavy and framed around her face.

The royal couple are expected to be watching the finale of the Invictus Games today (coincidentally on Harry's birthday), which will include catching the remaining sports and the medal ceremonies until late. So chances are, Harry and Meg will be crashing straight after, before heading back to the US for (we can only assume) another set of celly b's with their two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

Happy birthday, H!
