After the royal family paraded through the streets of the London on horse-drawn carriages for the Trooping of the Colour, an annual birthday celebration that dates back to the 17th century when regiments used it as a rally battle, they emerged on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to take in the rest of the festivities.

While Prince George and Princess Charlotte were absent from the carriage ride along the Mall, the two youngest royals did show their support for their great-grandmother to watch as the Royal Air Force flew by.

For the occasion, George wore a white Peter Pan collared shirt with a blue trim that matched his shorts. According to reports, it was a replica of the outfit that Prince William wore at Prince Harry’s christening in 1984.

Last year, the 2-year-old was carried by his father, but, now in pre-school, he stood by his parents and the Queen at the front of the balcony and looked enthralled by the display.

Meanwhile, Charlotte, now 13-months-old, was carried by the Duchess of Cambridge and looked adorable in a little pink dress with capped sleeves. She wore matching shoes and a bow in her hair. Perhaps the little princess could’ve done with a set of baby-sized headphones, though, as she seemed a little disturbed by the noise. This is Charlotte’s first experience of the Trooping the Colour fly-by seeing as she was only a month old this time last year.
