'Pretty Little Liars' Star Janel Parrish Looks Unrecognizable With Her New Blue Hair Color

Fans of Pretty Little Liars and To All the Boys I've Loved Before have grown accustomed to Janel Parrish's signature dark hair. As we await her return as Mona in the upcoming debut of The Perfectionists, the actor has unveiled a major new look.

The former PLL actor has become a "rocker mermaid" and debuted hair streaked with shades of blue. "When a role calls for blue hair and a pierced nose ... sometimes you just go all in," she wrote on Instagram.

Janel hasn't revealed what role required the change in hair, but fans have their theories. Many on social media pointed to Janel's past role in the Bratz movie, with one follower pointing out, "We’ve all seen u with blue hair before." Another Twitter user also noticed the similarities to her past role, writing, "Kind of giving Jade vibes."

It has been more than 10 years since Janel first started inBratz, but there hasn't been any word of a possible sequel — yet. Although many continue to speculate, others are just supportive of the change, including her fellow To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Anna Cathcart, who wrote, "Umm excuse me hello."

It might be a while before we find out what upcoming role required the dye job, but Janel certainly isn't the first celeb to embrace sky-inspired hair. Kylie Jenner previously showed off icy blue hair in December, and over the summer, Ariana Grande went with a similar blue-gray shade. Even RM from BTS got in on the recent color change and debuted a mysterious color that had fans puzzled over its exact shade. Needless to say, it appears that mermaid-inspired hair color is likely to stick around in 2019.
