Superheroes have genesis stories, so why shouldn’t Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg?
Well, the upcoming On the Basis of Sex biopic about RBG is essentially just that, and there’s a brand-new trailer to prove it.
With her characteristic wit, Bader Ginsburg (played by Felicity Jones) takes on gender discrimination and sexism from Harvard Law School all the way to her career-making case before the U.S. Court of Appeals…all while rocking her illustrious scrunchie collection.
The feminist icon calls out the laws that are “obstacles to our children’s aspirations” and goes toe to toe with any man (*cough* Sam Waterston as Erwin Griswold) who disagrees with her.
On the Basis of Sex, directed by Mimi Leder (The Leftovers) and written by Daniel Stiepleman, hits theaters on December 25 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of RBG’s induction to the Supreme Court.
Move over, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. There’s a new heartwarming Christmas movie in town and it’s far more culturally relevant (sorry, Dr. Seuss).
