Eddie Chen, HBO

While the world might be looking different outside, the 2020 Emmys are still a go this year. But rather than watching actors, actresses, directors, and other TV nominees accept awards from a stage facing a crowded room, we'll be watching them from the comfort of their homes—that's right, on September 20th, the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards are going virtual.

Although the star-studded event has a different telecast than usual, that doesn't mean you should forgo predicting who will win—if anything, this is a time to round up your friends (virtually, of course), grab yourself a bowl of popcorn, and tune in to see if your predictions were correct. But if you're unsure who has been nominated and what shows you need to watch before the big night, we got you. Below is a list of the 2020 Emmy nominations, and who we believe is going to win big on Sunday night.

Outstanding Comedy Series - 2020

Nominations

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm - HBO

  • Dead to Me - Netflix

  • Insecure - HBO

  • Schitt's Creek - Pop TV

  • The Good Place - NBC

  • The Kominsky Method - Netflix

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Amazon

  • What We Do in the Shadows - FX Netflix

Who we predict is going to win

Schitt's Creek. Because this will be the show's last Emmy season, it will probably go out with a bang by winning this year's award.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series - 2020

  • Don Cheadle — Black Monday

  • Anthony Anderson — black-ish

  • Ramy Youssef — Ramy

  • Eugene Levy — Schitt's Creek

  • Ted Danson — The Good Place

  • Michael Douglas — The Kominsky Method

Who we predict is going to win

Ramy Youssef. Due to the fact that Youssef won a Golden Globe for this exact role last year, it could mean that he'll win the Emmy for his critically acclaimed Hulu show.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series - 2020

  • Tracee Ellis Ross — black-ish

  • Christina Applegate — Dead to Me

  • Linda Cardellini — Dead to Me

  • Issa Rae — Insecure

  • Catherine O'Hara — Schitt's Creek

  • Rachel Brosnahan — The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Who we predict is going to win

Issa Rae. This is her first nomination for her HBO show Insecure—and she deserves a win for her natural comedic chops.

Merie W. Wallace, HBO

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series - 2020

  • Andre Braugher — Brooklyn Nine-Nine

  • Mahershala Ali — Ramy

  • Kenan Thompson — Saturday Night Live

  • Daniel Levy — Schitt's Creek

  • William Jackson Harper — The Good Place

  • Alan Arkin — The Kominsky Method

  • Sterling K. Brown — The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

  • Tony Shalhoub — The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Who we predict is going to win

Either Mahershala Ali or Alan Arkin will probably win, and they're brilliant actors—but we're hoping the award will go to Kenan Thompson as a long overdue win for Saturday Night Live.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series - 2020

  • Betty Gilpin — Glow

  • Yvonne Orji — Insecure

  • Kate McKinnon — Saturday Night Live

  • Cecily Strong — Saturday Night Live

  • Annie Murphy — Schitt's Creek

  • D'Arcy Carden — The Good Place

  • Alex Borstein — The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

  • Marin Hinkle — The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Who we predict is going to win

Annie Murphy is 100 percent going to win this, in our opinions. It's Schitt's Creek's last season, and she hit it out of the park with her performance throughout the season.

Outstanding Drama Series - 2020

  • Better Call Saul

  • Killing Eve

  • Ozark

  • Stranger Things

  • Succession

  • The Crown

  • The Handmaid's Tale

  • The Mandalorian

Who we predict is going to win

Succession. It just keeps getting better and better.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series - 2020

  • Jason Bateman — Ozark

  • Billy Porter — Pose

  • Brian Cox — Succession

  • Jeremy Strong — Succession

  • Steve Carell — The Morning Show

  • Sterling K. Brown — This Is Us

Who we predict is going to win

Jason Bateman might win for his performance, but so could Brian Cox. Our pick? Jeremy Strong will take home the award as a surprise (but deserving) win for Succession.

Mark Hill, HBO

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series - 2020

  • Zendaya — Euphoria

  • Jodie Comer — Killing Eve

  • Sandra Oh — Killing Eve

  • Laura Linney — Ozark

  • Olivia Coleman — The Crown

  • Jennifer Aniston — The Morning Show

Who we predict is going to win

Zendaya. While the show itself didn't receive a lot of nominations, she deserves to be the youngest winner in Emmys history after her excellent performance.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series - 2020

  • Giancarlo Esposito — Better Call Saul

  • Nicholas Braun — Succession

  • Kieran Culkin — Succession

  • Mathew MacFadyen — Succession

  • Bradley Whitford — The Handmaid's Tale

  • Billy Crudup — The Morning Show

  • Mark Duplass — The Morning Show

  • Jeffery Wright — Westworld

Who we predict is going to win

Giancarlo Esposito. After ending Breaking Bad with a killer (pun intended) performance, it's time for Esposito to receive an award for this character that everyone loves to hate.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series - 2020

  • Laura Dern — Big Little Lies

  • Meryl Streep — Big Little Lies

  • Fiona Shaw — Killing Eve

  • Julia Garner — Ozark

  • Sarah Snook — Succession

  • Helena Bonham Carter — The Crown

  • Samira Wiley — The Handmaid's Tale

  • Thandie Newton — Westworld

Who we predict is going to win

Julia Garner. This young actress is making a name for herself and with Ozark coming up on its last season, she's bound to take home an award for playing Ruth Langmore.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie - 2020

  • Huge Jackman — Bad Education

  • Jeremy Pope — Hollywood

  • Mark Ruffalo — I Know This Much Is True

  • Paul Mescal — Normal People

  • Jeremy Irons — Watchmen

Who we predict is going to win

Yes, Huge Jackman's and Jeremy Irons' performances were great, but up-and-coming actor Paul Mescal killed it as Connell in Normal People. His performance is one of vulnerability—and it's a must watch if you haven't already.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie - 2020

  • Kerry Washington — Little Fired Everywhere

  • Cate Blanchett — Mrs. America

  • Octavia Spencer — Self Made: Inspired By The Life Of Madam C.J. Walker

  • Shira Haas — Unorthodox

  • Regina King — Watchmen

Who we predict is going to win

Regina King. Period. If you haven't seen her thoughtful performance on this fantasy yet modern limited series on HBO, then you're missing out. She's a force of nature you need to watch.

Outstanding Limited Series - 2020

  • Little Fires Everywhere

  • Mrs. America

  • Unbelievable

  • Unorthodox

  • Watchmen

Who we predict is going to win

Watchmen. Not only does the show do a great job reimagining the graphic novel by blending the parallels of racism in our country in a world of superheroes, but the cinematography is fantastic.
