Precious Baby Great Horned Owl Rescued From Sand Trap at Florida Golf Course

The little bird was too young to fly.

A golfer was enjoying a day out on the Havana Championship Golf Course in Florida when he noticed something stuck in the sand trap. Upon further investigation, he realized it was a baby Great Horned Owl. All we know is we're so glad he noticed before anyone hit the golf ball into the sand trap and accidentally struck this baby.

The golf course notified a rescue agency, Rescuing Ocala Wildlife. The volunteer-based organization arrived on the scene quickly. Take a look at the article from Village News to hear what happened after the rescue team arrived.

Aww, that poor owl was probably so scared and confused. Luckily, the rescue team was able to handle the situation.

Mikayla Frierson, founder of Rescuing Ocala Wildlife, told Village News that as long as this baby owl was not injured, they would be able to place the owl back in a tree. She said the adult owls would take care of it from that point. We're truly praying and hoping that's the case for this precious baby.

Frierson also said this isn't uncommon. The rescue organization is very busy this time of year with baby owls leaving the nest too soon. We sure are glad to have her and the kind volunteers to help out when this does happen. Please be advised that if you do find wildlife in need of help, do NOT feed them. Check out the Rescuing Ocala Wildlife website for steps on how to handle the situation.
