'The portrayal of London in You season 4 is so bad it's good'

You season 4 has all the standard hallmarks of a Joe Goldberg production. There's gruesome murders, secret stalking, steamy sex scenes and fake identities. But there's also a new backdrop, as this time he's reinvented himself as Professor Jonathan Moore in London. The only problem? Viewers can't get over quite how hilarious the geography of it all is.

If you've been looking into the You season 4 filming locations, you'll know Jonathan and his wealthy new gang are living it up in the UK capital city. The beautiful Royal Holloway (in, er Surrey) is used for the university scenes, while Jonathan appears to live in a university-supplied muse house in Knightsbridge - walking between the two. Then there's the strolls in Chiswick, nightclub scenes at Fabric and Kate's gallery in Southwark.

While it's all well and good, some viewers from London are pointing out how chaotic travelling from one location to another actually would be - and there never seems to be any transport involved. *Obviously* we know this is standard in TV and film, but still funny, huh?

As one fan put it, "Oh, YOU is fantastic. We have no idea where this university is. Somehow a campus uni that looks v home counties-esque, but set in London. He lives in a mews in Knightsbridge, that apparently is paid for by the uni. He walks through Shoreditch on his way home. Incred. Delightful and silly."

Someone replied, "It’s my old university (Royal Holloway in surrey) and my group chat is currently popping off about how his quick walk would actually take 8 hours."

Another put, "Anyone watching season 4 of You on Netflix? The protagonist now lives in South Kensington on a temporary professor salary. (FYI South Kensington is a very pricey, very central part of London)"

Ohers said, "My favourite bit is right at the start he’s like 'Where I live is across town from campus, but it’s ok I don’t mind the walk” ???? Such a confusing sentence in a London context."

Never change, You.
