Round of applause, Tom Pope.

The Port Vale striker equalized against John Stones and Manchester City during Saturday’s FA Cup third round. Why is that notable? Because he trashed Stones on Twitter last summer.

First, the tweet:

Now, the goal:

Just resplendent.

No, Stones wasn’t directly responsible for conceding, and he was even credited with an assist on City’s third goal.

But Pope and Port Vale have to take the wins where they can get them. Pope has spent his career caroming around the lower leagues in England, mostly in League Two, the fourth division where Port Vale currently resides.

Soccer writer Kristian Heneage summed it up nicely on Twitter.
